Matcha
You are probably increasingly coming across matcha in your daily life. Matcha bars are springing up in cities like London, coffee chains are diversifying into matcha lattes, and if you’ve been to a Japanese restaurant recently, you’ll almost certainly have seen matcha icecream on the dessert menu.
So what’s all the fuss about? What is matcha? Why’s it becoming trendy?
All matcha is green tea, but not all green tea is matcha. Instead of infusing green tea leaves into water, matcha is made from the finest green tea leaves that are ground into a fine powder and mixed into the water. This is one reason for it’s vibrant green colour.
A few weeks ago, I joined Dr Tim Spector on the Zoe podcast to explain what matcha is and talk about its health benefits - here are the links - if you’ve would like me to come and talk to you and your friends or colleagues in person, then do get in touch.
